I have older lenses, 70s and 80s vintage. Some cannot be modified by Leica with the 6 bit coding, and a few that can at extremely high prices. So I decided to try the jinfinance mounts. Â Their mount for the 90mm Elmarit-M works great. I filled in the ports with the correct code using Testors model paint and the lens automatically is seen by the M 240 and M8. Â However, I also order two mounts which are sold for the 135mm Tele-Elmar-M f:4, which I have. The fixing bolt pattern is the same as for my Elmarit-M 1:2.8/21. These two mounts need just a bit of filing to get them to mount smoothly on the cameras. Â The 21mm lens, with its original mount, marked with the M-Coder, does correctly communicate with the camera bodies. But when I install the jinfinance mount the camera says "no lens connected". Â The 135mm lens has a mounting screw right in the middle of the section where the 6 bit code would be. The jinfinance mount eliminates that screw. But I can't get the lens to be seen by the camera, either with its original mount marked with the M-Coder or with the jinfinance mount. Â What could I be doing wrong? rickp13 Posted June 16, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted June 16, 2014 hi john if i remember correctly, the coding is ''accepted'' by the camera when the code AND the correct frameline for the code is showing. if the original flange brings up a different set of framelines than the jinfinance flange, that might be your problem at least with the 21mm lens? and therefore path to a solution. greetings from hamburg rick Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

rickp13 Posted June 16, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted June 16, 2014 re 135mm, is there now a code for this lens? i could be wrong, but at least in m8 days, i think there wasn't a code because the 135mm focal length wasn't ''recommended''. the 135/2.8 had a code because it brought up 90mm framelines. Â The original mount on my 21mm f:2.8 brings up the 90mm frame lines on my M4. Â The jinfinance mount for the 135mm lens brings up the 35mm and 135mm frame lines on my M4. rickp13 Posted June 16, 2014 Share #8 Â Posted June 16, 2014 John Some ideas for you: * The frameline pairs are normally 28mm + 90mm; 35mm + 135mm; and 50mm + 75mm. * I looked here http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-news/leica-lens-codes/ for a 6-bit code for your 135/4 but couldn't find one. Have you looked for the 135/4 setting in your camera software? * The 135/2.8 code can't work with your f4 lens because the 2.8 lens brings up the 90mm framelines. * My factory coded lens seems to use matt paint. regards Rick Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

It had the correct hole pattern, but the wrong frameline selector, so the lens was not recognized. When I ordered the correct flange, it worked fine. I used matte paint.
