mangopen Posted June 10, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted June 10, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there. I hope this on the right forum- apologies if not, newbie here. Would anyone be kind enough to suggest appropriate adapter(s) for the Nikon Nippon Kogaku S C Nikkor - 5cm f1.4 lens for use on the Leica M bayonet mount. My research so far has produced conflicting reports- iI have seen on some sites that Contax RF adapters should work. Any advice with or without links to such products would be appreciated. menos I M6 Posted June 11, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted June 11, 2014 The Amedeo adapters are indeed the best. Stay away from "Kipon" branded adapters - they are terrible. If you buy an adapter with fixed M mount, pay attention for which focal length pairs it is made (28/90 or 35/135 or 50/75) and buy the one you plan to use a lens for. Â There are lenses which cannot be adapted as of their design with large optical elements and alike. One example is the 35/1.8 Nikkor which has simply a too large rear element to fit physically in an adapter. Â Inform yourself first before buying - on RFF (rangefinderforum.com) there is an extensive thread which lenses are confirmed to be adaptable and which not - google for this thread, it's very informative. ynp Posted June 11, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted June 11, 2014 Menos, very true re: Kipon adapters. I had two of them and had no luck with the adapter to get the infinity positioning on my Leica. Amedeo is a precise adapter and works well with all longer RF Nikkors. I had no experience with the 35/1.7, unfortunately. Heard a lot of praise. And I agree the RFF is a well of knowledge. farnz Posted June 11, 2014 Share #6 Â Posted June 11, 2014 Mangopen, Â The adaptors made by Amadeo Muscelli are indeed the best available and are superbly designed and engineered hence the high price but in my opinion they're worth it. Amadeo is a Venezuelan who hand makes the adaptors himself. You can buy directly from Amadeo's website and I've always received excellent service. Â A word of caution: make sure you order a Nikon S to Leica M adaptor but not a Contax to Leica M adaptor because the Nikon S and Contax mounts had different thread pitches and you'll have difficulty focussing your lens with the wrong adaptor. Â (For full disclosure I am merely a happy customer and in no other way connected.) Â Pete.
