Mr. Thompson Posted June 9, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted June 9, 2014 The correct hood is a LH-4N from Voigtlander. Not sure about the earlier Chron hoods but the IV detachable hood requires a groove in the outer bezel of the lens to secure the hood that is not present on the Skopar. I highly recommend the vented LH-4N. On the cheap, you may be able to fit a B+W 39mm #900 Rubber Lens Hood. Should you try an alternative hood, take a shot at f/22 to insure that it does not vignette.
rramesh Posted June 10, 2014 Share #3 Â Posted June 10, 2014 Why would you even consider that? Leica hoods have non-standard mounts and in some cases cost as much as second hand CV.
scsambrook Posted June 10, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted June 10, 2014 If you have the original screw thread 35/2.5 type (NOT the so-called 'Compact' or M fitting versions) then by removing its screw-on lens hood you will probably get a 12855 or similar fixing hood to fit. The spring fingers in the Leitz hoods will - if you're lucky - provide enough grip to keep it in place . . . But from my own experience with the similarly styled 25/4 I should warn you that it doesn't take much pressure to dislodge the hood. I think it's a much safer idea to buy one of inexpensive Chinese 39mm screw fitting hoods that mimic the design of the 12585. And far cheaper . . .
