growler Posted June 9, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted June 9, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all. I have bought a Leica 80-200 late version to use with my 240 via the adapter. It seems that when you turn the focus ring to infinity you have to stop before you get to the end of the turn. So if you turn the focus ring to far it goes out of focus slightly. I do not see anything to be fixed, just use the viewfinder (or the LCD) to focus at infinity not relying on the infinity focus mark. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
farnz Posted June 9, 2014 Share #3 Â Posted June 9, 2014 It's deliberate and common to many longer R lenses and is designed to allow for expansion of the lens under thermal conditions. If Leica hadn't designed it this way you might have posted a thread about not being able to reach infinity with your focus ring on a hot day, which would of course be worse. Â Pete. J S H Posted June 12, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted June 12, 2014 I have noticed the same behavior with my 80-200. It's more noticeable at the long end. I think that particular lens is very sensitive to small adjustments in focus. Â I try to always check focus using live view, even if everything in the frame is a mile away and I am shooting at F8.
