Hi everyone.

I noticed yesterday that the front part (aperture ring and glass) was loose on my lens. After inspecting it looks like the entire glass portion (front and rear element) is moving about 1.5mm. Does anyone know what this is?? Is it a easy (read: cheap) fix?

I know the front of 35 Summicrons, (ASPH and pre-ASPH) are known for sometimes breaking their locking resin and unscrewing from the focus ring and mount (usually because someone used the square lens hood as a grip when unmounting the lens from the camera - BAD idea!).

I've never heard of one simply moving in and out that much, linearly. (I believe you - I've just never heard of another instance)

Thanks. I never take it off with the lens hood but I do leave to hood on all the time. So maybe a few months in the bag bouncing toques it somehow. It was also in some heat for about 24 hours. Nothing above 105 though..

I remeasured the play and it is more like 1mm. Still The front and rear glass is moving in tandem. I am hoping it is some random screw loose and a quick fix.
