maxnoy Posted May 28, 2014 Share #41 Â Posted May 28, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello maxnoy so from your experience the original goggled adapter is just a bit shorter than the new helicoid adapter, correct? (hence the need to slightly turn the focus ring)Â This will also mean that if use other way around (old MEM + new helicoid), the MEM will not be able to focus to infinity.... Â Â I think it will be just fine with the new adapter. The lens is by all account structurally unchanged. If anything, the wider aperture ring just keeps the collapsed tube from collapsing a bit more. I can't see how you'd have an issue.

jonoslack Posted June 9, 2014 Share #42  Posted June 9, 2014 Hi Jono Slack and all testers, The previous lens head is loosely when collapsed. In the (old) guidance stood:  "… The M-E-M … has a retractable lens head. Note: In this position, the lens head rotates freely and is not looked. …"  Is the new lens locked when it´s pushed together? (Or: Is it appropriate to focus precisely with a loose lens head?)  Thanks for the info. Greeting Thorsten   Being loose doesn't interfere with focus through evf. What you see is what you get there. It would be an inconvenience for changing aperture though as turning the aperture ring would just turn the lens tube and not change detents. Hopefully that has been fixed.  HI There The new lens clicks shut much more firmly than the old - this means that you can change the aperture without unwinding the tube (if you see what I mean). The only real downside using it collapsed is with the adapter is that it's not rangefinder coupled.
ivohula Posted June 10, 2014 Author Share #43 Â Posted June 10, 2014 Is the underside of the updated lens Blank? Â So far no one has reported any optical differences - nothing in coatings or sealing to prevent dust intrusion. Â Can some of the testers or early adopters confirm above points. Thanks.
