Bill W Posted May 25, 2014 Share #81 Posted May 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wonder how many will take a loss trading a plain old black MM for a cool new silver chrome one to match their new Summilux. Or maybe just buy a second one. Jeff But will there actually be a silver chrome MM. The one announced is a limited build and in stainless steel. I do not think there has been a chrome body actually announced to be built. I may be wrong though.
Advertisement Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Hi Bill W, Take a look here So there will be a 28mm Summilux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gpwhite Posted May 25, 2014 Share #82 Posted May 25, 2014 Which is about the same size as my 1.4/21 Summilux (and too much finder blockage to use without an external optical or electronicVF) and similar bulk/weight to my 1.0/50 Noctilux. So too big as an everyday lens irrespective of whether it's performance is better than the 2.0/28 Summicron. Strange, , because the SX 24 I shot for a couple of days was noticeably smaller, lighter and shorter than my SX 21 that I had at that time. Sean Reid, in his discussion of the SX 28, gives some information about his prototype's lens shade compared to the standard Summicron 28 shade... in terms of shooting with a shade on, it seems that SX 28 is not likely to block much more of the lower right corner of the VF than the Summicron does already. It is the same price as the regular black version and is most definitely not to be confused with the stainless steel special edition. You can see the chrome Monochrom on the Leica website. MarkP Posted May 25, 2014 Share #84 Posted May 25, 2014 from Leica AG spec sheet: Summilux 21: 580gm, 77mm long with hood Summilux 24: 50gm, 75.6mm long with hood and Noctilux 1.0/50: ~500gm, 62mm without hood all big, but yes the 21 is a bit heavier. IkarusJohn Posted May 26, 2014 Share #87 Posted May 26, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Back on topic, I've ordered a silver 28 Summilux. By the time it becomes available (if it does), we will know a lot more about it and I might be able to afford it!
CheshireCat Posted May 29, 2014 Share #88 Posted May 29, 2014 Thanks John. I am curious to see what the RRP will be. I would imagine somewhere in the range of 7- 8,000. Whatch out, I guess Leica marketing is checking this thread to figure out the right price. Now, where were we ? Uh... sure, I think we all agree we would definitely pay $2000 for the Summilux 28 ! pop Posted May 29, 2014 Share #89 Posted May 29, 2014 I have moved a number of posts to a new thread http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/333798-rf-vs-evf-moved-so-there.html.Can I ask all members to remain reasonably close to this thread's topic, please? This thread is about a new Leica lens, a 28mm Summilux for the M type cameras.
gpwhite Posted May 30, 2014 Share #90 Posted May 30, 2014 from Leica AG spec sheet:Summilux 21: 580gm, 77mm long with hood Summilux 24: 50gm, 75.6mm long with hood and Noctilux 1.0/50: ~500gm, 62mm without hood all big, but yes the 21 is a bit heavier. Yes, of course, you are right about this. But it seems to me that girth is the biggest issue with the OVF. I found the 24 SX much less intrusive than the 21 SX, and not nearly the barbell of the Noct. I think the 24 was most "slender" of the lot, and 28 will be more lithe still. Anyways, I have ordered the 28 SX because I want to try the selective focus out at 28mm. Hard to believe it will render as well as the non-FLE 35 SX ASPH, but we will all see.
