mikeadams Posted July 27, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have not liked my D-Lux 2, mostly because of he lack of viewfinder and its too slippery feel, but I have discovered a new use, its best feature actually. At a kid's party over the weekend I shot about 20 minutes of 16x9 movie mode, imported it into iMoveHD, clicked the iDVD button and made a copy. I expected it to be much quite inferior to my Canon ZR 20 mini-DV tape system, but when I played the D-Lux "footage" back on a 50" pana plasma, I was blown away! Sound and picture were much better that I had asumed they would be. Try this, and you'll never use a tape movie camera again. Advertisement Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Hi mikeadams, Take a look here D-Lux 2 as Movie camera. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Enrique Santa Posted July 27, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 27, 2006 I can´t be agree with you at all. For the price of D-lux 2 you have plenty movie cams. In my opinion is -with difference- the worst feature of the cam. Try to use it like a all days-pocket-travel cam. Its really amazing. Sorry for you and your wasted money. mikeadams Posted July 27, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted July 27, 2006 For all-day carry I have a Digilux 2, my favorite still, but I also have a Panasonic LX5 for long zooms, those plus the D-Lux 2, so I have plenty of choices. mat_mcdermott Posted July 27, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 27, 2006 I haven't used the D-Lux 2, only the Panasonic version of it, but the video does indeed look pretty good. The only drawback of course is that to do anything of any length you need an entire pocket full of SD cards. A friend of mine has shot entire music videos and shorts with digital P&S cameras. A couple of them have even won in their category at festivals. The slow frame rate on some of them makes the footage look very interesting.
