Jennifer Posted May 28, 2014 Share #61 Â Posted May 28, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) In a moment of insane impulse I today picked up a 'mint' ex demo Lux 50 asph, at what I believe was a very decent price. Not had a chance to play with it yet, but most probably shall tomorrow. This Lux 50 really wasn't on my lens road map given I already have the APO-Cron 90 and the Lux 35 asph FLE and I've always felt 50 is a neither here nor there FL. Anyway, as I've now paid for and got it I'll just have to make use of it and hopefully learn to love it. Â Sadly, I've rather blown the budget I'd reserved for the SE 21 asph I really want. Â I think you now have a really nice selection of top Leica lenses and the threesome of 35, 50 and 90 mm lenses appeals to many people including myself. I hope they work out well for yourself. I also have the 24 mm Elmar f3.8 which is excellent, though not used as much as the other lenses.
erl Posted May 30, 2014 Share #64  Posted May 30, 2014 Here are a couple of my first takes with my 50 Lux. (both pics @ 1.4, just to start exploring the lens)  Merlin, the love of my life, taken here relaxing on the couch last night with his newspaper! Welcome, dear visitor! Equally impressive as my Noctilux but paints with such a different brush. Yes, my life is blessed with pleasures. fursan Posted May 30, 2014 Share #66 Â Posted May 30, 2014 Thanks. As I said in another thread, using this lens has for the first time given my photos a sort of a "Leica look" that I have missed ever since the transition from film Leicas to digital Leicas. SOMETHING has been missing for the past 6 years or so, but it's now back. Â Could someone please illustrate the ' Leica look ' with some sample images. Â Can this ' look ' not be reproduced with use of pp sw; of images taken with other lenses? Â I do love my lux 50mm too. Â Thanks. Â p.s. this is one of the ' looks ' I got with minimal sw processing of an image with the lux 50mm asph and ME.( might have been posted earlier ) Â
jbl Posted May 30, 2014 Share #67 Â Posted May 30, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm never quite sure about the whole "look" thing. I'm a believer, but I'm sure with sufficient PP skills (that I don't possess), one could achieve the same thing. Â What I like about the whole thing is that you can explore how evolving optical designs over decades look at the world differently. It's just fun and interesting and (for me) magical. Â I have more 50mm's then I'll admit to in public and I love them all. They're all different. Â -jbl
