fotografr Posted April 26, 2014 Share #1  Posted April 26, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) A Red-winged blackbird in the wildlife sanctuary called the Horicon Marsh. These birds are very common around here, but still one of my favorites with their calls and colorful wing markings. I've had them dive bomb me, actually brushing my head, when getting too close to a nest. Welcome, dear visitor! Northwest Wanderer Posted April 27, 2014 Share #6 Â Posted April 27, 2014 Nice image Brent. I to enjoy seeing the red-winged blackbirds. We have them out my way along with the yellow headed and brown headed cowbirds. They seem to be smart birds. Â BTW, the wounded dove recovered and was set free. Its mate sat in a nearby tree for days waiting.

fotografr Posted April 28, 2014 Author Share #9 Â Posted April 28, 2014 Thank you all for the kind comments. Â Bill, I hope that Dove has learned a lesson. I'd forgotten that they mate for life, so thank your wife for stepping in and saving two birds, even if it meant the hawk had to look elsewhere for dinner. A nice tasty mouse, perhaps?
