Advertisement Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Hi imants, Take a look here lenses too slow. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Synergist Posted April 24, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 24, 2014 More lenses will be released. Have some patience man! Or knock yourself out with the M adaptor and take your pick of some fast lenses. Sheesh.
imants Posted April 24, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted April 24, 2014 The lenses to be released in 2014 are on the slow side as well. Sure a m lens can be used but once again it is the second best game as adapters come into play.
Synergist Posted April 24, 2014 Share #4 Posted April 24, 2014 The camera and lenses as is have the potential waaaay beyond 99.99999% of folks capabilities. This is the eternal irony of camera forums. Other than the sloooow crappy lenses do you have anything positive to say about the new release or Leica's bold statement for the future? Anyway, I'd like a back one [if I could afford it] I think it is superb. Bravo Leica.
imants Posted April 24, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted April 24, 2014 Settle down its a camera not god's magic wand, ".........fast lenses are used in respect to a shallow DOF not just low light shooting.
NZDavid Posted April 24, 2014 Share #6 Posted April 24, 2014 Zoom lens looks very similar to the X-Vario. Made in Japan apparently but not disclosed by whom.

Synergist Posted April 24, 2014 Share #9 Posted April 24, 2014 God's Magic Wand. Ha, nice one. Yeah, it's just a camera for taking piccies, after all. On the DOF front you might be better waiting for the full frame T2...
-ph- Posted April 24, 2014 Share #10 Posted April 24, 2014 Physics say: the lenses are either fast or small - for the target audience of the T, small is certainly more important. Add to that, that Leica does produce a nice selection of fast M primes. But as the T system grows, faster lenses certainly will come. Best regards, Peter

imants Posted April 24, 2014 Author Share #14 Posted April 24, 2014 I am referring to auto lenses made specifically with the T in mind not manual lenses
-ph- Posted April 24, 2014 Share #15 Posted April 24, 2014 Small does not equate to excellence. No, but by account to all testers, the new T lenses are excellent. If size would not matter, there would be little reason to buy any other camera than the Canon 5D or the likes - you can even get a Nikon D800 close to the price of the T. But to the target audience that matters as little as the price of a pickup truck compared to a 2 seated Porsche - for exactly the same reasons. Size does matter - being too large can mean being entirely useless. Peter

imants Posted April 24, 2014 Author Share #17 Posted April 24, 2014 There are small cameras and fast lenses and I probably see and use more cameras on a daily basis than most here so I do know what is out there Last workshop I had 3 students who probably owned everything made. One has four wheeled bags full of cameras and lenses all bought in the last few years, sure a collector but also serious in his craft as a photographer. jaapv Posted April 24, 2014 Share #18 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) It is a pity that only one semi fast prime is offered, The zooms are too slow thus lack versatility"........ Well, if ISO 12500 does not compensate, what does? And don’t start on shallow DOF, or I’ll be forced to quote Lars Bergquist….
