dkCambridgeshire Posted April 18, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 18, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) On Sunday 13 April at The Leica Society AGM in Stratford-Upon-Avon I won a new Leica 'C' camera kindly donated to TLS by Leica Mayfair. I have never won anything quite so prestigious and am still in shock … but enjoying using the wee beastie immensely. These are a few pics of mosses and lichens on tombstones and a wall in Peterborough Cathedral burial ground taken using the camera's macro mode (handheld) at minimum aperture in natural light. The 'C's' macro mode is quite good; I plan to explore same a bit more shortly as have some accessories on order which should enable the attachment of Leitz Elpro lenses - thus enabling (hopefully) use of the tele end of the zoom … with supplementary battery powered miniature goose neck LED lighting. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! I need to start reading up on lichens and mosses to try and identify the specimens … it's a vast subject but offers some interesting photo opportunities. dkCambridgeshire Posted April 18, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted April 18, 2014 Thank you to everyone for the compliments. Yes, I was very lucky to win the wonderful prize and it's a superb camera. The small size is an asset for this type of photography - especially the last shot where the camera was at the same level as the subject - a larger camera could not get as low. When the accessories arrive the exercise will be repeated with similar subjects to ascertain if using longer focal lengths within the zoom range plus an Elpro will give better results. And I'll post a picture of the set-up showing how an adaptor can be attached to the camera. Wishing you all a Super Easter. dunk
