allamande Posted April 14, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 14, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) In my garden. The tiny flowers belong to a small succulent plant (don't know its name, looks like a cluster of rosettes). I think these ants were enjoying the nectar off these flowers. Welcome, dear visitor! Iduna Posted April 15, 2014 Share #7 Posted April 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ece, a great subject and gorgeous colors. I always watch ants doing the same on buds of peonies but that they even creep inside is surprising. These ants are clever. There is a Russian photographer who is an expert on this field. allamande Posted April 16, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted April 16, 2014 Louis, Stuart, Bill, Paul, Dee, and Iduna, Thank you for looking in and for your comments. Much appreciated. Iduna, at first I thought it was quite strange that they were inside the buds, but then I thought since they (the ants) are attracted to sweet things along with all kinds of food, then why not the flower nectar? But I've never seen anything like this before. Without them the picture wouldn't be anything interesting indeed. As Louis says, Spring might be the ultimate culprit here.
