Australian Street Photography

Recommended Posts

Jerry, I have bumped into you three times in the last 4hours ...(grin)

I saw the photographer's rights on dpr, then the SONNETAR Review that you did and now here after having only just joined this forum.

What a pity you are in Sydney ..."horrible place" says a street photographer from Melbourne (grin).

I'm looking at film M's ...only film. I used to have an M6TTL, then an M7 and an MP but was much to busy to use them and maybe I still am. ...am deciding if I want to do it again especially at twice the price they are now.

My gallery is all Street, all Zeiss. ( give it a min to load if you are PC am upgrading it soon, is all flash so not so nice on a mac)

Jerry,

welcome to the forum.

Your street collection is terrific. I can only encourage you to show us more here on the forum. We are looking forward to this.

hi Ant, good to see you back into photography. We had a brief chat on email back in Jan.

Likely I will disappear again

Have been looking at the energy a Leica can give and of course there is so much to read. Silly M comparisons to things like D800 by Leica owners (very silly) I WILL NOT BUY THAT CAMERA. I PROMISE... ...silly physicist.

and worse the status writings by others like this one On Status and Street Photography — Eric Kim Street Photography ...silly boy.

The energy that you can get from any camera or lens is tremendous and to be used and exploited, the use of manual focus too which no one would believe has some surprising qualities. A Leica also has that viewfinder that I'm most interested in.

Seeing Jerry's pics makes it more difficult to resist

Thanks Ant, I know it is hard to take interesting street photography in Sydney or Australia in general since we have a much more "Chillax" culture lol Nevertheless, i will always keep my eyes open to see if theres anything or anyone that is interesting around me, there's often something going on.

This is also why i love to travel, visiting different cultures and seeing different people, it always fascinates me.

I like what Eric is doing for street photography in general and he even held a workshop in my lecture room here in Sydney.

Final advice, if you can't resist a Leica then why resist it?

Cheers mate

We need to shake that off Jerry, maybe some time in Auckland,New Zealand or Glasgow, Scotland or Jerusalem or Northern England or Rio or countless other places will put you at ease.

Its not as target rich as some places but that just makes you work harder. I've seen photographers from here go elsewhere and their photos are the same ..and photos from others that came here and they were no better than anything here. Its not really about targets at all and about the photographer, same as with being anything ...even a lawyer

He only knows what someone else has said, he is the reason many of us stopped talking. I wonder how he is going at being a stoic 3 Stoic Techniques that Can Help You Gain Tranquility in Street Photography — Eric Kim Street Photography ...and wonder where he got that silly idea.

If you knew how much he hasn't told you because he doesn't know you would be shocked

When you are in Melbourne next, let me know ...can go for a quick walk and a pic.

Jerry -

Welcome to the Forum. Based on your link I look forward to seeing many more of your photos. In the future I most strongly urge you to place at least one or two images directly on the Forum along with your links to lure us into clicking through. Many of us will not click through without incentive to do so. Then there are creative sites like Ant's that at least for now are so slow as to discourage exploration.

Hi Jerry

A lovely set of images-it'll be great if you could actually post some of them on the forum because you get many more views and comments than following a link - also it would highlight the quality of some of the images and give them a wider viewing

Sure, I will upload some photos later today and appreciate your suggestion Robert.
