Looking at images and reading, I chose the 0.95 because I'm really not that fond of 'swirly bokeh' - it's too distracting - and I like to use all apertures. The degree of focus shift was too great when the 0.95 was available.

Interesting. I came from a different angle: in all honesty, f/1.4 covers most of my low-light needs, and I found after some testing that, in addition to the bulk and weight, the 0.95 stopped down to f/1.4 was not better (and possibly worse in some respects - eg, fringing) than the Summilux. Therefore, I did not *upgrade* and kept the 1.0 alongside the Summilux, precisely for those occasions where I want the vignetting, swirly bokeh and other aberrations that are the signature of this lens.

Exactly my situation.

I'm fortunate enough to own both the f/1 and the f/0.95. I owned the 0.95 first and recently found a used copy of the Mandler lens.

For me, I almost want to say I prefer the Mandler design. The lens is much smaller and lighter than the ASPH lens. The focus throw on the 0.95 is better and the overall sharpness is, of course, better, but there's definitely something special about the f/1.
