bscott Posted February 20, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted February 20, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a M3 and use 35mm with goggles, 50 and 90mm lens and when they are mounted on the camera body the view finder is clear but shows frame line for lens. When the 135mm with goggles is mounted on the lens the frame line is shown but there is a dark area around the frame line not clear as with the other lens. I don't see anything wrong with the 135 nothing loose or any sounds in the lens. I'm at an end on what could be wrong or is this typical of the 135. Any help would be appreciated. Advertisement Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Hi bscott, Take a look here 135mm f2.8 with goggles. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
fotoism Posted February 21, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted February 21, 2014 The "left eye" on the goggle is masked, that way you can see the frame line properly without too much peripheral distraction.
tobey bilek Posted February 21, 2014 Share #3 Â Posted February 21, 2014 The lens is made to activate the 90 mm frame line and the goggles magnify it to see the same as 135. Â The grey area is natural vignetting of the magnification. I see no mask installed in mine, but there is a fuzzy edged grey semi oval area around the frame lines. Â The whole purpose of the lens was to be able to a 135 on an M2 that has no 135, only 25,50,90, lines and would be relatively small if it were there such as on an M6. Â The M3 has a higher magnification finder and more effectively uses 135 frame. If you were to use any other 135 lens on the M3, there would be no grey area and the smallest frame lines would activate.
gyoung Posted February 21, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted February 21, 2014 Perfectly 'normal', does the same on my M3. Â Doesn't it give a wonderful way of using a 135 on an M? Heavy but so much easier to focus than any other 135 with the M3's magnification. Â Almost as easy as an SLR.... Â Gerry
