Silly me sold a 50 lux some time ago when I shed my M9 kit.

Today my brand new one arrived for my M240.

What Joy!

The crisp outer white shell - still sealed.

The perfect inner silvered box.

The fresh cheeky passport card

The chunky, but svelt, leather case crush

And that honed crafted fusion of metal and glass. Spotless. Smooth. heavy, but light.

Perfect mechanism

Made for 1.4

Ahhh, I've come home

50 Lux + 28 Summicron was my total kit for a couple of years. Still consider it the perfect basic kit, for me.

(Add something in the 90mm focal length and one from the wider 16mm-21mm focal range and that is it. For me, everything else I've bought has just been superfluous, but fun.)

I fully agree. That means that I really should sell quite a few 'superfluous, but fun' lenses (and the old M9), have a very long holiday with the proceeds, and take more photos with my 'perfect' Leica M 4-lens kit*, M240 and Monochrom ;):)...

...but of course I won't

*3.4/21 SEM ASPH

2.0/28 Summicron ASPH

1.4/50 Summilux ASPH

4.0/90 Macro-Elmar

My 4 lens Kit:

WATE 16-21mm

2.0/28 Summicron ASPH

1.4/50 Summilux ASPH

4.0/90 Macro-Elmar

We have pretty much the same 4 lens kit. I've thought about the 21/3.4 SEM, but the WATE has always just seemed to produce such nice photos and the files seem to be fantastic. Even though the 21/3.4 SEM looks better on paper, I thing the WATE has the advantage because, it is more telecentric. And, that may be why I've always liked the files better than the other wides I've tried. The image across the full frame and into the corners is just sharper. Less smearing?

You and I seem to have a lot in common... except you don't seem to suffer from snarky-phrenia.

I've been thinking about the WATE for a while but I am trying to demonstrate :eek:RESTRAINT:eek:. Your photos with it are very impressive. Furthermore the 21 SEM is much more compact and can be used with the small 21mm OVF or the M240 EVF. Also, recall I've already got the 21 Summilux and the SEM.

If I end up selling some of the less-used components of my system then I'll get one. I'm still deciding what to do with my 28-90 Vario-Elmar-R for the M240, but it's really a very impressive and versatile lens, and think I'd regret selling it although it would already be at a hefty profit.

I'll probably be selling my old M9 and some Zeiss lenses later in the year when my son has finished art for school - maybe 'till then I can wait for a WATE!

This forum is only big enough for a few snarkyphrenics so again I'm trying to demonstrate some RESTRAINT:eek: ;)
