Everyone should have at least one "difficult to focus" lens in their collection. It makes you appreciate how easy the others are.

:p

Yes, perhaps so. Of course I don't want to spend more than a Euro for that privilege.

If that constitutes an offer for my 75 Summicron, you'll understand that I can't be expected to make an immediate decision...

In my opinion it is not the short throw, but something is different in the .68 digital finders. It is much easier on my .72 M6.

I understand the 240 VF is improved , but still .68 . Don`t have one.

The 75 is a great lens, but hard to focus even with perfect vision. I can miss focus on a subject at 300 feet at 5.6. Been using Leica since 1980 and never had focus issues.

Interesting. Until recently I owned both a 90mm Summicron APO and a 75mm Summarit--both bought used. I prefer the 90mm focal length over the 75mm, but found myself reaching for the 75 almost all the time over the 90 because of weight and the fact that I was missing focus waaaaay too often on the 90 and almost never on the 75 Summarit (despite the very short focus throw).

I recently traded both lenses in on a new 75mm Summicron for a couple of reasons. First, I really wasn't using the 90 at all due to the weight and my lack of ability to consistently hit focus without the EVF. Second, I wanted the built-in, locking lens hood on the 75 Summicron (as it protects the lens so well when walking about) and wanted the close focus capabilities that are missing on the 75mm Summarit. So far, I love it.

Billo101,

Allow me two comments on your posted image.

1. (As a mod). Images should be posted in appropriate sub-sections unless they clearly show or demonstrate some specific technical fact of relevance to a discussion under way in the thread.

2.(As an ordinary member). You image seems to me to be heavily post processed, which leaves little of the original lens capture to be viewable. My opinion is that you have used something liken Silver FX Pro to extensively expand the visible dynamic range, which to my eye, is an unnatural look. Compressing the tonal range to increase show areas and maybe enrich the highlights would present a much more pleasing and natural image.

Please note, the above is simply opinion, not an attempt to declare right or wrong. I accept that you may prefer the look you have presented.

He took the image with the 75 Cron which is the subject of this thread. What more do we need?

Read my post above carefully and then consider if the posted image demonstrates anything to you, or anyone.

A major reason for the limitation as expressed is because a lot of members, including Mods, frequently access from either mobile phones or slow internet connections. Images in technical threads make such connection difficult and or expensive.

Provided some clear relevant fact is demonstrated by the image it is acceptable.

My opinion is that it demonstrates PP Rather than lens quality. YMMV.

All done in the interest of improving technique. Advice I need to follow myself sometimes. ;)
