menos I M6 Posted February 13, 2014 Share #61 Posted February 13, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) My fav travel set up is: M-Hexanon Dual 21-35mm f/3.4-4 for daytime use 21mm Summilux for night-time use Sony RX100 as back-up & when I'm too lazy to carry the M240 The Hex Dual is one of the finest lenses in it's range, I love mine. I found for myself though, that when travelling I rather prefer tiny lenses for the M, so I end up carrying a UC-Hex and a 21 SE instead - granted, that is a larger and more cumbersome combo than the Hex Dual but I do not have to handle the bulk on the camera the whole time ;-) The Hex Dual has a rendering to die for and especially wide open renders very, very similar to the UC-Hex, which I much prefer over any Leica 35mm. I wish, Konica would still be around, making rangefinder lenses of this class.

The original reason I bought it is that I mostly use either 21mm or 35mm, and I've become paranoid about changing lenses in crowded Hong Kong. I once dropped my 35mm Lux when someone bumped into me when switching from a 21mm. Hopefully, my M240 sensor will stay cleaner for longer too! algrove Posted February 13, 2014 Share #65 Posted February 13, 2014 So, I got to ask... what bag do you guys fit these things in? RickBagFetishist Any suggestions RickBagFetishist?
algrove Posted February 13, 2014 Share #66 Posted February 13, 2014 I had been dreading someone asking this, as I have no idea! The first one was given to me by the guy I bought my 28 Summicron from. It doesn't look glued together, and I will check for a part number when I get home. Another one I made by gluing together a couple of spare Leica end caps I had lying around (works just as well), and to be honest, I have no recollection where I got the other from. I do think Pete's suggestion to buy some cheap M end caps, and epoxying them together is the best way. I use mine all the time; with leather wraps, I get 4 lenses stacked safely and neatly in my camera bag in a very small space. Cheers John John What color is the first one given to you? Also does that mean that with 4 lenses stacked together you have 5 lenses total with one on the camera body?

RickBagFetishist At the risk of duplication: Domke F 803, the ultimate bag: two M9's with 28 summicron resp. 50 summilux mounted, 21 Lux plus 90 Elmarit-M, 15 Heliar, batteries, cards, filters, glasses etc. What I don't want to carry at any given moment stays at the hotel. An I pad Air would still fit easily in the back pocket btw. Very subtle appearance, easy to carry and handle (extra hand grip), light and smooth. Believe me, I have tried inumerous bags, to me, this is the one and only!
JeTexas Posted February 13, 2014 Share #68 Posted February 13, 2014 I always carry the 28 Summicron and 50 Summilux. The the third spot in my bag rotates between a 90mm Elmarit, a 135mm Elmarit or an SF24d flash.

Also does that mean that with 4 lenses stacked together you have 5 lenses total with one on the camera body? Hi Lou, Black (or dark charcoal) just like the standard rear caps. In my Mono 9 bag, I can put an M camera with one lens in one compartment, and then 4 lenses (in wraps) in the other using the double ended caps. It works really well. If I'm careful, I can put in a second body (heavy bag, though). For my trip to the US, I will probably take two bodies (M9 and Monochrom), 21-28 and 50-90 stacked. Not too heavy, and leaving space for specs, wallet, phone, iPad mini etc Forgot to fish out the caps. I will post a photo later today, and I'll see if there's a part number. algrove Posted February 13, 2014 Share #70 Posted February 13, 2014 The ones I have without closures between the two lenses are gray plastic.

IkarusJohn Posted February 14, 2014 Share #72 Posted February 14, 2014 Okay, have had a look, and I think they are both glued end caps (I thought I had three, but can only find two at the moment). One has "14269 Leica" written on it, and the other "for Leica M", which would suggest that one is made with original Leica end caps, and the others after market. Anyway, they're very useful, and I thoroughly recommend them. I used epoxy to glue them. A rather poor photo attached. Welcome, dear visitor! IkarusJohn Posted February 14, 2014 Share #73 Posted February 14, 2014 I've just noticed that the "for Leica" caps are taller than those with 14269 stamped on them.
