Northwest Wanderer Posted February 3, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 3, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Quail on a farm gate. Whenever they sit like this it reminds me of sheet music. I imagine they sit on the gate to be up out of the snow. Welcome, dear visitor! pauledell Posted February 3, 2014 Share #2 Posted February 3, 2014 Bill, A marvelous picture with the great composition, the timing, the colors and sharpness. The balance is perfect with the fence post. Paul

Northwest Wanderer Posted February 3, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted February 3, 2014 Paul & Stuart, thank you. The quail come around whenever it snows. They fly into the barn to eat grain spilt on the ground then fly off to a pasture gate area I see clearly from my computer room. All I have to do is take pictures thru a window. I may be lazy but I'm keeping warm.

Northwest Wanderer Posted February 3, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted February 3, 2014 Thank you Dee, They are something to see. When it's cold they fluff-up as shown and look so comical.
fotografr Posted February 4, 2014 Share #7 Posted February 4, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) That's excellent, and I agree about the resemblance. This would make a very nice high contrast b&w (I know because I tried it).
XVarior Posted February 4, 2014 Share #8 Posted February 4, 2014 Excellent shot, seen and composed. And the title can't be better! Poor birds, they look like feeling cold :-( The XVarior
Northwest Wanderer Posted February 4, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted February 4, 2014 Brent & XV. thank you, Brent, good idea. I'll do a b&w conversion as you suggested. XV, these birds seem to do fine. I'm always amazed how animals can survive freezing weather.

Northwest Wanderer Posted February 6, 2014 Author Share #13 Posted February 6, 2014 Ece, thank you. The theme is not originally mine. I posted a similar image a few weeks ago and someone made the music note observation. These birds are fun to watch.
Iduna Posted February 7, 2014 Share #14 Posted February 7, 2014 Bill, oh, my goodness, what a sophisticated capture. Of course, it is sheet music they are performing. Everything is there: notes, lines, pause, chord, I suppose the g is missing but the 2 notes sound well. This is pure fun and so well rendered also.
