Old lenses have issues with glass discolouration, pitting, scratching, softening, fungus, haze, decentered elements, broken focus hardware etc etc etc. The list is long. One that is high priced by a dealer is more likely to be clean and working properly. A cheap one off eBay is probably very hit and miss, most likely miss. luigi bertolotti Posted January 29, 2014 Share #4  Posted January 29, 2014 There is an historical "Thambarski" made in USSR, but is a very rough copy... and with max aperture 2,8... engraved Leitz Wetzlar - Thambar etc... but is easy to recognize (and maybe, rarer than a genuine Thambar)  Conditions commands the price, on a very wide range, because many are very battled : I saw one for sale at 300 Euros...and was even without RF coupling...  As you say,a very intriguing lens, capable of very odd pics  Welcome, dear visitor!
