What I said was that there ALSO appears to be some effect that is sensor related rather than specific to the lens optics. An area of brightness much greater that the exposure allows for can be clipped and it also can result in loss of contrast or bleed into adjacent darker areas of the image too. a large light source just out of frame can still cause this. I don't see any sensor artefacts though (such as the stripe that might have appeared with earlier camera/firmware). Maybe that's what my comment sounded like? Â Can you add any samples of your own? Veiling flare is something that comes across the whole frame or most all of the frame. Lenses like the CV Ultron 28mm are classic examples. The flare is so bad as to decrease severely the macro contrast of the scene. Leica lenses like the 28 Summicron (especially) and the Summarit are virtually imune to veiling flare and produce contrasty images. Â So, to answer your question, you may be frustrated, but Leica does not produce lenses that have a signature of veiling flare. Quite the opposite. In comparison to most other lenses, Leica produces lenses that are capable of extreme macro contrast. When Zeiss produces a great lens they can be at this same level or better depending on the specific f-stop and the lens. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
