Advertisement Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Hi leica1215, Take a look here 35/1.4 serial number. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted January 16, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 16, 2014 Lenses aren´t decaying like eggs, AFAIK, but if your dealer has one at around # 4.2 Mio it should be very safe. I wouldn´t call a LEICA lens < # 4.0 Mio old, most of my most used lenses are between # 3.2 and 3.6 Mio and they are all perfect, esp. after coding. Current lensproduction seems to be around # 4.6 Mio, others round here might know more exact figures. LEICA does not officially give those numbers. They are usually worked out by authors of LEICA-books looking back into the history of the Co. Best GEORG

Leica lenses don't hang around in dealers windows so any is going to be 'new'. Steve

Rob Roskopp Posted January 24, 2014 Share #7 Posted January 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Mine starts with 416.. Also the part number 11663 is engraved on the lens (Below the made in Germany) below the zoom ring. The longest distance on the scale shows 7 meters for the FLE, while the older ASPH. shows 10 meters.
wattsy Posted January 24, 2014 Share #8 Posted January 24, 2014 For what it's worth (which, because of the way Leica use serial numbers, I agree is not worth much) my 35 Summilux is #415xxxx. That was bought new in March 2012.
