35/1.4 serial number

Lenses aren´t decaying like eggs, AFAIK, but if your dealer has one at around

# 4.2 Mio it should be very safe. I wouldn´t call a LEICA lens < # 4.0 Mio old, most of

my most used lenses are between # 3.2 and 3.6 Mio and they are all perfect, esp. after coding.

Current lensproduction seems to be around # 4.6 Mio, others round here might know more exact

figures. LEICA does not officially give those numbers. They are usually worked out by authors of LEICA-books looking back into the history of the Co.

Im looking to get new 35ASPH, anyone one bought recenly can kindly tell me first few digit of serial number? I hpoe to get latest one.

Thanks

Serial numbers are assigned in batches anyway, so you may get one with an earlier number built after one with a later number. Leica lenses don't hang around in dealers windows so any is going to be 'new'.
