Advertisement Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Hi leica1215, Take a look here Check lens focus. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TomB_tx Posted December 23, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted December 23, 2013 I've found the test chart at the link below to be useful. You focus at the center of the scale from and angle of 45 degrees and take a picture, then load it on your PC and view at 100%. Look for the sharpest part of the scale compared to where you focused. This link has instructions and the chart itself is on page 18. Warning: the document contains another link to focustestchart.com which no longer works, and brings up who knows what! So just print out the chart on page 18. http://www.dphotojournal.com/focus-test-chart.pdf
Niko Posted December 24, 2013 Share #3  Posted December 24, 2013 I would say don´t start checking your lenses if you haven´t noticed anything wrong shooting normal pictures with it. You might find some small errors doing the tests and then it starts bugging you even if it didn´t matter in the real shooting…  Niko (been there, done that)

You might find some small errors doing the tests and then it starts bugging you even if it didn´t matter in the real shooting… While I agree it can cause mental problems, it also has enabled me to know how to fine-tune focusing of my lenses. I know which give sharpest focus just in front or behind the indicated focus. Yes - it could make one send everything off for calibration, but if you know the characteristics you can compensate while shooting.
