ymc226 Posted December 22, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted December 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) My copy doesn't flare but isn't as sharp as my 50 Lux ASPH. I think it is a focusing issue. My Lux, as well as many of my new ASPH lens needed a trip back to Leica NJ for focus adjustment. In fact, the Lux wasn't spot on even afterwards until I took it to Steve's Camera Repair in Los Angeles who did the adjustment in a few hours since I was there visiting. Â Is the 50 Cron AA such a specialized lens that only Leica can adjust it or can trusted camera repairers work on basic issues such as focus adjustment? I'm leaving next week again for Los Angeles and would like to take the lens for re-calibration. Even though I'v bought the lens is only a few months ago, I'd rather have Steve work on it, knowing the lens will be fixed the first time.

ymc226 Posted December 22, 2013 Author Share #3 Â Posted December 22, 2013 I had my Leica M9P adjusted by Leica NJ and MM (no M240 at the time) corrected by Steve.
paulsydaus Posted December 23, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted December 23, 2013 Gee, I hope this is a focus issue, it should be considerably sharper than the LUX...

Personally, with such a new lens, I'd definitely leave it to Leica or you're likely to void any warranty.  Pete.
ModernMan Posted December 25, 2013 Share #6 Â Posted December 25, 2013 Since using live view takes the rangefinder calibration (both camera and lens) out of the experiment, does your 50 apo exhibit the sharpness deficiency when carefully focussed using live view on an m240? If so, then it would appear that your copy may have a somewhat more difficult issue -- maybe a matter of deficiency in the optical cell (centering?). Or if the 50aa has a floating cell (idk), then adjustment of that. In any case, if it is not tack sharp when focussed with live view, then back to Solms IMO. bephoto Posted December 25, 2013 Share #7 Â Posted December 25, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) that lens should be way sharper than 50LuxApsh!!! at any aperture (i hope) according to MTF charts. Just leave it to Leica to handle it.
