Iduna Posted December 15, 2013 Share #1  Posted December 15, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) we discovered a large field of sunflowers and supposed they were not being cut down in order to leave a feeding place for birds. We watched a big flock of strange birds. But they were too restless and waitted in the trees untill wew were done with our shooting. No chance for us too catch one with our slow lenses and clumsy gear.  5D MKII with Elmarit 180 mm   Welcome, dear visitor! platypus Posted December 16, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted December 16, 2013 Iduna, This is really quite beautiful. It says so much about the transition that nature must make from summer to winter, it is a lovely comment as well as being a beautiful image. The colours and textures you have captured are so pleasing also.

Northwest Wanderer Posted December 17, 2013 Share #9 Â Posted December 17, 2013 Iduna, Nice simple shot that says much about the ending of summer and rapidly approaching winter. All this in one dead sunflower.
Iduna Posted December 17, 2013 Author Share #10 Â Posted December 17, 2013 Paul, yes, I have a b&w version and can post it later on. and that one, too, will have a brownish tinge. Thanks for your always helpful comments. Â Bill, yes, it was a strange sight to see a whole field of these dead sunflowers. But in a photo I was not able to frame it properly. I also felt it a messenger of coming winter. but it served as a natural feeder for those birds.
