That's very odd, not seen that before, looks almost like you've lost the green channel.

I don't /think/ there's any connection with the long exposure, I've done a lot of long exposure shots with my M9, and not had anything like this happen. Suspect it's a coincidence.

Have you done a reset of the options, and taken the battery out etc?

If that doesn't help I think it needs to go in for a service.

just got a reply from leica. share this with you guys.

Thank you for your email.

We are unable to determine the fault without first checking the camera.

Do send in your camera for our specialist to access it.

Do bring along a copy of your tax invoice for the warranty validation.

Average turnaround time for repair is 7 to 10 working days.

In the event that your camera requires sensor replacement, due to the unavailability of parts, repair is only expected to start in mid to end Feb 2014.

We will advise you accordingly after the assessment of your camera by our specialist.

Even after warranty and it seems that its not your fault (camera looks good and it hasnt been dropped etc etc.) they usually replace things like that for free... they have replaced the shutter of my friends M8 for free LONG after the warranty had ended.

Is this a quote from Solms?

WHAT?! February?! They should rip out a sensor from a M-E!! although yes I had to wait a month too for my sensor since it was 'out of stock' with the repair of my M9-P (although I never saw a problem with the sensor they replaced it when it was at solms for something else.)

Sensors are always made in batches. If they have a production problem (maybe the delaminating IR filters we are seeing) and have to skip one or two runs whilst the problem is being sorted it will create a hiatus in the supply pipeline. The same goes for the production of the glass of the IR filter, which would multiply the problem. Not an excuse, but an undesired side-effect of being a minor customer.

What the hell is going on at Leica? QC issue after QC issue. Recall of the 50 APO. Discrete mode bug in the M-E/M9/MM FW. Color issues with the M. Parts falling off the M. Don't get me started on lenses. Took me three copies of the 50Lux before I found one that did not back focus right out of the box. Apparently, sales are down 15% this year compared to last. Geez, I wonder why that is. I was just about to plunk down my coin for the MM. But after reading this thread and the plethora of others detailing QC issues and ridiculous service wait times, I'm holding off until Leica get their sh*t together, if that ever happens

Do it.

I got one, almost reluctantly, a few weeks ago.

When the lock-up bug rears its head (I happen to like the Discreet mode), I look at the files and the anger somehow goes away.

It doesn't mean I'm happy about it: I DO want the bug fixed, but by the time the code gnomes do so, I will have taken some (to me at least) great pictures.

And until that happens, if it ever happens indeed, I get the opportunity to rant on the forum...:D

How about that for a positive post?
