Quai

Image taken thru a glass window. It's just too cold to go outside.

Another image.

These are California Quail.

North Idaho is at the northern extreme of their range.

Bill,

Lovely photos and these are such decorative birds compared to our quail, which are beige coloured to match the summer grass, and not nearly so pretty.

My father used to shoot them to eat, thankfully he is no longer in a position to do so.

Lovely birds and photos. I begged out of shooting a Dicken's Christmas street performers in Skaneateles because of the cold and wind today. I'm becoming a wuss. These birds puffed to keep their heat in are really nice, their colors in your picture are great.

Bill,

They look very cute with their puffed up feathers. What are they doing up there anyway, in that cold? Come back to Cal, birds!

Ece,

North Idaho is as far north as these birds range. Yesterday I noticed the covey (about 12 birds) marching out of my barn after eating grain that had spilt on the ground. They are fun to watch.
