Anders, could you post some more examples of this lens, please?

Sure. These are not "processed".

The 28 Summicron is loved by many, and it was regarded as a benchmark lens when introduced about 10 years ago. It is possible to achieve a little bit of separation @ f/2, but nothing like a 35 FLE. For me, the 50 Summilux you have is superior to the 28 F/2. I sold mine, as it did not seem very lively on the M240.

Nonsense. Imagine the whole group of people who sold their 28mm Summicron f2 after Tim Ashley (love Tim) reported this year that his 28 Summicron looked boring on his M240. Now, people are reporting that the 28 Summicron, that was great before the report, is somehow not very exciting on their new M. Reminiscent of the early reports from Lloyd about the M240 color problems. Turned out he had an early release candidate photo from Jono's beta camera form before the camera's release. Once released the color turned out to be wonderful.

The 28 Summicron(designed in 2000) probably resides 80% of the time on my M. Most used lens of a small set utilize for travel. The 35 FLE (originally designed in 1994) is in my arsenal and is very good if, you stay away from specular highlights in the background bokeh. The 28 Summicron seems to produce smoother OOF transitions.

Which, brings to mind another often quoted piece of Leica folklore. That is the myth that the 35 Summicron v.4 is the Bokeh King. All started by Mike Johnston (TOP) in 1997 when he coined the phrase for this lens. But, he freely reports he never really shot much below f5.6. Now, he states this comment was rather unfortunate. The Online Photographer: A New 'King of Bokeh'?

The 28 Summicron on the M8 and the M9 were outstanding. On the M240 it is as good or even better. This lens produces deep blacks and is flare free. For me, it is the perfect street/travel lens. And, combined with a 50mm ... throw in the WATE zoom lens to cover 21mm down to 16mm... a 90 Macro Elmar and, for me... perfect.

If, you care to, click through a few of my Flickr photographs and try and guess which pictures are taken with the exciting 35 Summilux FLE and which are taken with the boring 28 Summicron. I bet you will have a difficulty telling them apart without looking (camera and lens info listed).

I hope the 28mm Summicron f2.0 doesn't become the boring lens. Photographers can be boring not lenses.

Firts impressions: Wow!!! It's everything people wrote about it on this forum.

...however, it will take some time until I feel comfortable with it. Getting good composition might be really tricky. By using an OVF I can get pretty close to what I see is what I get. I just have to move my eye to the extreme corners. I guess I won't be buying an external VF, and in crutial scenarios I'll use an EVF or LV.

Finally made up my mind and decided to go for the 28 Summicron.

I managed to find a used copy along with a 28 Leica viewfinder. So far I real enjoy the lens.

Good choice. It may not be an 'exotic' Leica lens, but it's one of the best lenses they've ever made. And the focal length doesn't scream 'wide angle' in the images; it's a reasonable wide angle that doesn't risk taking over the subject matter.
