marcg Posted December 5, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted December 5, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) These super triplet lenses are very intriguing. Â Are they RF coupled? Can anyone post sample images please?
Advertisement Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Hi marcg, Take a look here MS Optical RF coupling?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted December 5, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted December 5, 2013 They are rangefinder coupled lenses and work fine on an M mount. Â I had the 35mm version for a while and the image quality was really nice, in an old school way of low micro contrast giving a very rounded smooth look to objects. But with a new project in mind I sold it before getting much use from it. I wish I had it now, I can see a use for it after all! Â Check on the wonderful landscape work of LUF'er C_R who uses one, he has a link to his Flickr pages under his signature. Â Steve
marcg Posted December 5, 2013 Author Share #3 Â Posted December 5, 2013 Thanks for this. I hate looking at other people's pictures in order to assess the worth of a lens. It gives me a false sense that produce images of the same quality. Then I spend the money - and then I find that I can't!! Â Anyway - where is C_R - I can't find him on the member's list
Ecar Posted December 6, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted December 6, 2013 I have the 28/4, 35/3.5 and 50/1.1. All of them are RF coupled. In fairness, you will be disappointed if you expect the same IQ as that provided by Leica, Zeiss or CV lenses. In addition, they involve some fiddling with hoods and caps - and effectively require setting the aperture before focusing. However, they do indeed have a unique old-school rendering and are extremely small/light. They are well suited to street work, as long as you don't need to change the aperture frequently. Finally, there's something pleasurable in using lenses made by one of the last remaining true artisans in this business... Â I'll try and post sample images when I have a moment. You learn something every day.  A member search brings up his posts, but here is his Flickr site  Flickr: C.Rangefinder's Photostream  and if you do a Flickr search for MS Optical in 'groups' and 'all uploads' you'll get loads of pictures made with the lenses  Steve
marcg Posted December 6, 2013 Author Share #6  Posted December 6, 2013 Yes - there is a members list http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/members/list/ off the community drop down menu on the Nav bar at the top.  Thanks for the heads up on Flickr. I found two groups - one for the 35 and one for the 28.  Pretty nice, really and I love the small size - especially of the 28mm  The Japanese Exposures site talks about high Micro contrast. I'm not too sure what is meant by the micro part - but a high contrast lens could go very well with an MM
