ZM Rangefinder Behaviour With Leica

Question -- with ZM (or other 3rd party M bayonet) lenses that focus closer than 0.7m that the Leica mechanism supports, how does the camera behave? When you get to 0.7m on the focus scale, does the rangefinder's coupling wheel bottom out and prevent you from going past 0.7m? If the rangefinder does actually prevent you from going lower than 0.7m, does this represent any unnecessary stress on the mechanism?

The lens moves forward as you focus closer, so the camera "wheel" simply stops at its limit (as if the lens were removed), and the lens continues to focus closer - so the rangefinder image stops moving at ~.7 m anything closer is by scale measurement.

So you need to actively be aware that you've surpassed that threshold. It would be very cool if Zeiss updated those lenses with a detent at 0.7m so you'd have haptic feedback when using them on a Leica.
