Jono Slack review of Leica lens on Sony A7

So this confirms that it isn't optimised for Leica WA's...

One of the commenters posted a great image of a side by side between the M and A7 showing the M as being significantly smaller than the A7 once you attach a native lens to the later...

But adding an EVF to the M also changes things

Wait until you have a bunch of grandkids, all of whom have Facebook and Twitter accounts and are addicted to You Tube. You'll spend your waking hours doing little other than finding yourself immersed in the "social" universe. Yuck.

So, NO FACEBOOK OR TWEETER. Instead, plain old e-mail, iMessages, and that antediluvian instrument known as a telephone. (Yes, they still exist)

The responses on anti-Facebook sentiments don't add much to the discussion on the Sony's performance with M lenses

Perhaps Jono has plans to publish his comments there via another avenue. I think it might be bad etiquette to reproduce his comments here without his approval, else it could easily be cut and pasted of course.

The executive summary is that he was very disappointed with the camera's performance with wides especially (really unusable in the case of the 28 Summicron for example) and returned it after two days.

On the Facebook discussion, I use it just socially, but I was recently surprised to be told by a prominent and successful fashion shooter here that he regards it as essential as part of his marketing and he has been booked by high profile clients who do look. Raising his profile and working at it all of the time is part of building business success. Of course the applicability for photographers will be genre dependant to some extent.

Well, Jono certainly has publicized his opinion, e.g. here: A7r - and why I'm not keeping it. - The GetDPI Photography Forums

Of course, Jono is entitled to spread his views and has shot some great images with the A7R.

I happen to like very much this image he took with A7R and Noctilux: The GetDPI Photography Forums - View Single Post - A7r - and why I'm not keeping it.

I also believe Jono happens to be on the wrong side of history with respect to the Sony cameras.

Of course, they are not a substitute for digital Leica cameras but are strikingly interesting in their own right.

I am also entitled to express my opinion and will do so with images as soon as my A7R arrives. A7r - and why I'm keeping it ... - The GetDPI Photography Forums
