In the El Charco del Ingenio wildlife preserve in the hills just east of San Miguel de Allende one can see many species of plans and animals, and most times of the year see very few people -- Spending an entire morning there we saw five other people, two of whom were a young couple looking for a place to make-out.

This butterfly was uncommonly cooperative, stopping long enough for me to photograph both sides of its wings, revealing an unusually colorful underside -- In the one photo the insect was attracted to the sunglasses I was holding.

Stuart,

a remarkable specimen beautifully captured. Great series! I also like pic 1 best, closely followed by #2. I'd like to know the little marvel by name...

Some pics (#3 & 4) seem to show a little more "grain" than others; is there the jpeg compression at work?

Cheers,

Alexander
