suey11 Posted November 19, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted November 19, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a WATE and thought I'd take it out to take some pics of the sun setting this evening. I mounted it to my M and to my horror when I tried to shift it from 18mm to 16mm I physically couldn't. Moves between 18mm and 21mm no problem this problem is there with the lens mounted and not. Focusing is fine just seems to tighten right up when trying to shift it to 16mm. Going to ring Leica in the morning but if any one has had any similar problems or any thoughts I'd be very grateful. Advertisement Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Hi suey11, Take a look here WATE not going to 16mm. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ecar Posted November 20, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted November 20, 2013 While the issue you describe is not uncommon with the MATE (eg, when switching from 28 to 50) due to its complex mechanical build, I have not seen it with the WATE, nor do I remember it being mentioned by other users. Seems like your lens has developed a rare illness and needs to be treated in Solms. In any event, don't force it (however tempting this might be) as it could damage the mechanism further.
