Mr_Jones Posted December 19, 2013 Share #61 Â Posted December 19, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use the 50/1.5 and the 75 Summarit for dogs and cats. On the M9 the SOnnar can be a pain because of the focus shift. The 75 has produced some great results for me. It's super sharp and deals with fur very well! DanBaker Posted December 20, 2013 Share #62 Â Posted December 20, 2013 Everyone seems to be jumping on the 50mm / tele lens band waggon. Im going to say a 35mm! Ive shot my dog with a 35mm and got some great results. I find it harder to shoot him with my 50mm (due to wanting to shoot with a narrow DOF and getting him to sit still) I wrote a little post about it on my blog.. stevesurf Posted December 21, 2013 Share #65  Posted December 21, 2013 Another with the 50 'Cron/M8.2 combination; I guessed at the focus, lens was almost wide open at f/2, hence the nose out of focus  ~ "Katerina hot pants"
jaapv Posted December 21, 2013 Share #66  Posted December 21, 2013 I am going to put a cat amongst the dogs!:D Lets see what happens - it should be havoc… The point is that with proper technique you can use a longer lens indoors freehand.  Elmarit-M 90 @ 2.8 (Exif say 16:confused:) 2000 ISO, 1/12th Not a lucky shot. I took about ten and only one had a bit of motion blur. I admit to two glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon. Welcome, dear visitor! doolittle Posted January 3, 2014 Share #76  Posted January 3, 2014 but it's not the best focal length for tight head shots.  Thanks for this post and the subsequent replies it elicited  So a doggy portrait.  I would go for 75mm, else try 50mm or 90mm  An SLR makes it easier for a close up with an ultra wide angle to give a funny (if a little over used) dog picture. Closer focussing and lack of parallax makes an SLR easier for this overall. I know, it's not answering the question asked
