ppolla Posted November 13, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted November 13, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All, Need some advice. I have the M240 with the 50Lux, but really miss a wide angle to take landscape and nature shots... What are your suggestions? Max 3000 USD. LEICA, VOIGT, ZEISS... Please let me know what you think. Advertisement Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Hi ppolla, Take a look here 2nd lens...?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mirekti Posted November 13, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted November 13, 2013 If I were you and started with 50mm lux instead of 35mm I'd go with a Leica 28mm If you need to go wider just stich.
JWW Posted November 13, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted November 13, 2013 Since I personally use the 35mm more than the 50mm, I recommend a 35mm Summicron ASPH or pre ASPH. I know the focal lengths seem close but to me they have a totally different look and perspective.

lawman Posted November 13, 2013 Share #5 Â Posted November 13, 2013 35 cron now and when you rebuild your bank account go for the 21 SEM. Although 35 and 50 seem close, I find they render very differently yet compliment each other very well afaik ...
Fgcm Posted November 13, 2013 Share #6  Posted November 13, 2013 Once at a time you will buy all lenses of the line, so, get the one you like more now. Next month or for your birthday, or Christmas or for no reason, you will buy another one. If you buy a 35, you will love the idea of a 28, than a 90 will enter into your bag for portraiting someone.......  If you are married, you could buy also a 75 for your wife  Franco
harvey999999 Posted November 13, 2013 Share #7 Â Posted November 13, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Voigtlander 21mm f1.8. Cheap as chips and outstanding image quality - check the reviews.
MarkP Posted November 13, 2013 Share #8 Â Posted November 13, 2013 28 Summicron ASPH . Â Pairs perfectly with the 50 Summilux ASPH if you want a complementary wider lens.
rramesh Posted November 13, 2013 Share #9 Â Posted November 13, 2013 I agree with the previous post. Save up for a 28 Cron and pair with 50 Lux. You will have no regrets. It's a brilliant pair.
philipus Posted November 13, 2013 Share #10 Â Posted November 13, 2013 Voigtlander 21mm f1.8. Cheap as chips and outstanding image quality - check the reviews. Â I think this is a good piece of advice.
Peter H Posted November 13, 2013 Share #11 Â Posted November 13, 2013 I agree with the comments above about the 28 Summicron as a partner for your 50 Summilux. Â I feel that with these two superlative lenses, I never really need anything else, and unless you're into some very specialised photography, in which case you wouldn't be asking the question because you'd know the answer, this pair will give you more satisfaction and be more versatile at the very highest possible level of quality than any two other lenses around. Guest Marc G. Posted November 13, 2013 Share #12 Â Posted November 13, 2013 28 Summicron all the way. Alternatively 28 Elmarit ASPH.

viramati Posted November 13, 2013 Share #14 Â Posted November 13, 2013 28 summicron asph. Spends 90% of the time on my M. When I had 2 M9's I used to have the 50 on one and the 28 on the other. 35 is really just to close to the
algrove Posted November 13, 2013 Share #15 Â Posted November 13, 2013 21SEM is an incredible lens as is the 28 cron. But the 21 is less hungry on your pocketbook.
dugby Posted November 14, 2013 Share #16 Â Posted November 14, 2013 I'll swim against the current on this one. Â I've been using a Summicron 28 and Summicron 35 (v3) for quite some many years, and whilst I very much like what the 28 captures, too often there's a wee too much edge-distortion on 2-3m scenarios. Â I very much like my Summilux-M 50mm ASPH FLE (yes the owner's booklet describes this as an FLE lens) on my M240 and now just also bought a Summilux-M 35mm ASPH FLE . Â Â I actually prefer the 35 FLE as my wide and I do NOT find it too close to my 50 FLE These two FLE's have similar IQ characteristics, bokeh and both deliver the "Leica glow" I like so much. Â So for me 35mm FLE for scenery, buildings and people. and the 50mm FLE for intimacy.

With R-lenses you could focus under 70cm. Or the 24mm is an opportunity. Or even a zoom-R. Jan
IWC Doppel Posted November 14, 2013 Share #18 Â Posted November 14, 2013 Everyone 'needs' a 28 Summicron, perfect time to add to your collection IMO
Duane Pandorf Posted November 14, 2013 Share #19 Â Posted November 14, 2013 The OP wants to spend less than $3k for his next lens. Sticking with the Leica brand limits him to the 28 Elmarit, 24 Elmar and 21 SE. The 28 and 35 crons sell for more than 3k today. Â Of course one could buy the Voight 35 1.2 or an R lens but I feel they both defeat the purpose I bought the rangefinder and that is for compactness. Â However, if the OP is willing to look into the used lens market he may find some older model lenses that fit his budget.
MarkP Posted November 14, 2013 Share #20 Â Posted November 14, 2013 Hmm. I didn't see the $3000K limit: Â So second hand 28 Summicron or Elmarit
