IkarusJohn Posted November 13, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the opportunity to pick up a good copy of this lens - it is, however, expensive. I do not own an M(240), so at this stage I would intend to use it with my D800E (with Leitax mount) and possibly the A7R, if I get one. Long term, I would use it with the next Leica iteration, if I go that way. What are people's impressions of this lens? It's a lot of money ... Cheers John
Advertisement Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Hi IkarusJohn, Take a look here Vario-Elmarit-R 28-90 f/2.8-4.5. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
algrove Posted November 13, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 13, 2013 Probably should be under R lens section, but it is the best zoom lens I have ever owned and have zero complaints with it after shooting 3000 images with it on the M240.

k-hawinkler Posted November 13, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 13, 2013 Hi John, Please, have a look here. The GetDPI Photography Forums - View Single Post - A Call for RAWS. A7r I looked with CS6 and Nik at DSC01646.ARW, that was shot with ISO1600. The image cleans up nicely. Based on what I see here and my own experience with this lens I think it will do exceedingly well on the A7R! I am looking forward using the Vario-Elmarit-R 28-90 f/2.8-4.5 on the A7R in early December, 2013!
wizard Posted November 13, 2013 Share #5 Posted November 13, 2013 ...What are people's impressions of this lens? It's a lot of money ... ... It is that very lens that made me buy into the R system quite late (I owned an extensive Pentax SLR kit already, and did not want to start a new SLR system). And I never regretted that decision, the lens is phenomenally good. I have since bought other R lenses, too, but the 28-90 remains among the very best of them.
