Keith (M) Posted November 16, 2013 Share #24 Â Posted November 16, 2013 Gosh, four x 35mm lens. Having only two I now have a burning sense of inadequacy... Â Mind you, one of them is a 1967 Summaron, which in terms of appearance, ergonomics, materials and creamy smooth focussing action is up there with the very best. Oh, and its performance ain't bad either!

I'd love to head there in winter. This winter we're heading to Cuba. I'm thinking of taking the 28 summicron Asph, and 50 Summ. Pete

lct Posted November 20, 2013 Share #30 Â Posted November 20, 2013 Lucky enough to have those 35s and a couple others. If i had to sell one it would be the Summaron that i don't use any more in favour of the Summarit which is a modern Summaron sort of. As for glow nothing beats the Summilux pre-asph anyway, among M lenses at least.

I have one coming late this week. Trust it will be a nice addition to my V2.
lct Posted November 20, 2013 Share #32  Posted November 20, 2013 I have not the 11868 i'm afraid, just the same in silver (11856) and a black 11114 but those are 50mm lenses of course. I was referring to the 35/1.4 pre-asph. My sample is a late German made 11870. Welcome, dear visitor! Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted November 20, 2013 Share #34 Â Posted November 20, 2013 Suppose you have the 35/1.4fle, 35/2Asph, 35/2Mk4, and 35/2.8 Summaron, and you use each equally, which would you sell?I use the 35/1.4FLE when carrying just one body, the 35/2 for city breaks/landscape when carrying 2 bodies, the 35/2Mk4 with film for atmosphere paired with a 50/2, and the Summaron 2.8 for black and white paired with the 50 Elmar. It's not for money, I just feel I've a ridiculous number of Leica lenses, particularly 35mm (my favourite focal length). I'm thinking sell the 35/2Mk4 as the Summaron has character, and I'll have the 35/2Asph as a sharp, faster but still light-weight alternative. I'm struggling to let the Mk4 go as it was the first Leica lens I bought and it's a cute little jewel of a lens. Pete Sell all of them and buy a 50mm
algrove Posted November 20, 2013 Share #35  Posted November 20, 2013 lct  I have the 11870 also. I never get over how compact a lens it actually is.  How does your copy of the 11870 compare with the 11310 35/2 if you have that one too?
lct Posted November 20, 2013 Share #36 Â Posted November 20, 2013 Sure it was my first 35 in the eighties. They are close at f/2 and on with more flare for the Summilux but i use the latter mostly at f/1.4.
