Which 35mm to sell?

Suppose you have the 35/1.4fle, 35/2Asph, 35/2Mk4, and 35/2.8 Summaron, and you use each equally, which would you sell?

I use the 35/1.4FLE when carrying just one body, the 35/2 for city breaks/landscape when carrying 2 bodies, the 35/2Mk4 with film for atmosphere paired with a 50/2, and the Summaron 2.8 for black and white paired with the 50 Elmar.

It's not for money, I just feel I've a ridiculous number of Leica lenses, particularly 35mm (my favourite focal length).

I'm thinking sell the 35/2Mk4 as the Summaron has character, and I'll have the 35/2Asph as a sharp, faster but still light-weight alternative. I'm struggling to let the Mk4 go as it was the first Leica lens I bought and it's a cute little jewel of a lens.

I've struggled for a year or more over whether to sell my 35/2 mk4 or 35/2asph and somehow managed to pick up another 35mm in the form of the Summaron . I'm rubbish at letting things go. As you say, they are are used and I enjoy them so perhaps I should just accept my addiction and enjoy them all.

I also have four 35 mm lenses for my Leica M—and seven 50 mm lenses, just bought another 50 mm off eBay, and have still another on order. Guess which focal length is my favourite ;)

Just stop feeling ridiculous.

I never owned a 35asph/2.0 but I was never fascinated by it either. I agree with the 35 IV in combination with the Elmar 50, although I combine it also as: 35 IV on M9 with Summaron 35 on MM. I would keep the FLE because when it has the same nice color rendition as the pre-FLE, i could not say goodbye to that considering the 1.4 too. The Summaron is astoundingly sharp for its age, moreover I'm not interested in corner to corner sharpness which would be the surplusvalue of the heavy 35 asph. I would trade that one for a Summicron 28 which is excellent on the street and for subtle color stills too

I would sell the 35 ASPH, I had this lens twice and just didnt love it. It's technically great but for me other 35's are less 'ordinary'

Try two pictures at f4 with the ASPH and that Mk 4 and the later has more image depth IMO plus the slight pink hue of the ASPH is less appealing to me than the slight yellow hue if the mk4

Plus the 4 is smaller and lighter, I do prefer the ASPH at f2 but you have for Summilux for that

Just my thoughts ;-)

PS I do love the Summaron f2.8

Sell them all - yes, seriously - show that you can live without them!

I'm feeling generous today Pete.

Send the lens you think you can live without to me. I will use it for you and look after it. Give it a few months at least and then decide if you need it back or not. If you don't you can list it on ebay, or I might make you an offer for it myself!

Most of us have too many lenses no matter which FL you want to talk about.

My shelf got full a couple of years ago and I bought another shelf instead of parting with the best glass in the world.

Bite your tongue. There can never be enough lenses.

You are correct. Since your post I have decided to order a third shelf just in case they stop making them.

Since my post #8 for some reason I have acquired 6 more lenses! Don't tell my wife.
