Zeiss 35mm f2 lens 43mm hood / Leica fitting also?

Hi.

I have one of these lenses, but it needs a lens hood.

It's a 43mm thread, and am I correct in saying the Leica is the same fitting?

I'm really not sure!

I have an Amazon link that suggests Leica 43mm lens hoods which look identical to the £63 Zeiss hood, but are these correct?

Thanks

The Zeiss hood mounts to the bayonet flange on the outside of the front of the lens, not in the filter thread. The Zeiss hood is also identical to the Voigtlander LH-6 hood (both are made by Cosina) which is often sold for less. I use the LH-6 on my Zeiss 35 f2.

I have tried a cheap 43mm aftermarket hood sold for the original Summilux, and it did fit the Zeiss thread - but the bayonet mount hood is nicer and fast to remove.

I use this lens on M9.

While in common sense it's always good to have the hood to cut the flare, I found it's not that necessary with this lens. I started this exercise when I read a lens review (Irwin?) about the lens coating. I tried it, and found it's much more pleasing not to have the hood. I do the same thing with my ZM 25mm too.
