After my initial apprehension, I'm thoroughly enjoying the new M. The only downside has been that it has inspired the purchase of several additional lenses as well. This APO-Summicron 75 ASPH, a previous version Summilux 35 ASPH and a R Macro-Elmarit 60mm.

I don't see any downside here.

I mostly shoot B&W on streets, and the M240 is so much better than I expected that I've now sold my Monochrom.

The M240 build quality is outstanding, and the silky-smooth shutter mechanism allows very sensitive timing. I was shooting for several hours in the rain this weekend without a hitch in conditions that made my M9 die on a couple of occasions. I've also found live-view to be surprisingly useful when using wide angle lenses in tight spaces, and even find the advanced metering a welcome feature when I'm tired or lazy at night. Overall, my percentage of 'keepers' has risen significantly compared to my MM.

I prefer the M240's files at high ISOs; not in terms of outright IQ but because I can more easily process the RAW output with the RGB sliders to achieve the look I want.

I also bought a Hexanon Dual 21-35mm which I enjoy so much that I'm thinking of selling most of my other lenses.

Until someone loan you a monochrom. Then you will be longing for MM. M is a great camera but MM is a statement.

Especially if at the end you convert most of your works to BW (like me), you should try MM.

Jerry.

I have the M and like many others I am totally in love with it BUT im so tempted by the MM. Im not saying I would replace the M, the colours that the M produces are gorgeous (when I choose not to convert to BW) but would have an MM as a second camera. The only thing is at the moment Im building my lens collection.

..I would be interested to see if Leica release a second generation MM

This week I went to my work seeing beautiful light.

It's really good to have a camera on me, which can capture this light as I saw it! And as a bonus: Working below zero in a moist environment is also no problem. The camera kept working at minus 1 C while my feet were freezing. ;) . battery capacity dropped from 90% to 50% but was back at 60% again in the evening, so I did not even have to change batteries between two sessions.

I feel really lucky with such a camera and also with such a wonderful road to work!

Paulus -- I really enjoyed looking at those. So much more interesting than pictures of cameras. And the light is gorgeously rendered, as you rightly say.

I have had my M for just over a week now. I am very fond of it :)

I come to the M from an M2 and a Nikon D60 making the M comparatively

in a completely different league for me. Much of the comparisons that I

have been reading on here are discussing incremental changes from the

previous Leica models whereas, for me, this is a whole new world and I am

absolutely loving it :)

Hi there ;)

What a wonderful thing, a fully left handed M. Now that really is "Leica a la Carte!" :D
