pauledell Posted October 12, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 12, 2013 Bill, A great picture of the bear. I hope it was from a far distance. We would miss all your fine pictures if you were too close and momma bear decided to have you for lunch. Paul
Northwest Wanderer Posted October 12, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted October 12, 2013 Thanks Paul. I took the picture from the safety of my vehicle ( motor running). Max zoom on the V-Lux 4. She had three cubs with her. Amazingly others that stopped to view were getting out of their cars to take photos. I guess you really can't fix stupid. Saw a huge grizzly up in Alberta years ago. Same scenario, people leaving their vehicles. The only difference was two young guys walked into the woods to get a close image. As they walked past my car they said they were going to get the picture of a lifetime. Can you imagine that?
Karl G Posted October 12, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 12, 2013 Magnificent animal, (when viewed safely), and lovely picture, Bill.
Iduna Posted October 12, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 12, 2013 Bill, this picture is fine enough and still impressive even if you did not fall into stupid activism. Thanks for sharing this adventure.
platypus Posted October 12, 2013 Share #6 Posted October 12, 2013 Bill, a really unique image of an extraordinary animal. I like that your shot depicts her going about her own business, apparently oblivious of the audience she has attracted. I wonder if all three cubs belonged to her, that's a very large rearing responsibility for any mom!
dickgrafixstop Posted October 13, 2013 Share #7 Posted October 13, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) great picture from a camera that's seldom mentioned and often undervalued on this forum. The long zoom on the V-lux enables shots that can't come from any other current Leica - and at about a 1/10 the weight of the R9/450 combination. Northwest Wanderer Posted October 13, 2013 Author Share #8 Posted October 13, 2013 Thanks Karl, Iduna, Dee & Dick These bears are a real treat to see. Dee, the female grizzly will have two and sometimes three cubs per litter. Often only one or two (with luck) will survive. Sad but it's natures way. Dick, thanks for the kind words about the V-Lux 4. It does seem to be underrated. It made this photo possible.
