Edward77 Posted October 11, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 11, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just spent a little time with a Rolleiflex and developed the film. As an M9-P user it was such a lovely experience and easy camera to use. Not only have I fallen for the Rolleiflex I have also fallen in love with film again. Where is the best place in Europe to source a Rolleiflex? I think we may pick up a cheapish one here in Hong Kong before we fly back to Monaco tomorrow.

stephen.w Posted October 11, 2013 Share #2 Posted October 11, 2013 LeicaShop, Vienna have a good selection -- the best that I know of: Mittelformat TLR Kameras - Rollei
earleygallery Posted October 11, 2013 Share #3 Posted October 11, 2013 There is also the Leica dealer in Copenhagen (can't remember their name) but they had a nice selection when I visited on the One Challenge last year. I have a Rolleicord VB which I'm ashamed to admit that I've yet to use - saw it in a local dealers window and had to give it a home! Then a while later the same dealer put a Baby Rollei (127 film) in his window and I ended up taking that one home too, which I have used and it is lovely - the only problem now is that I didn't stock up on 127 film in time and only have a few rolls left. Then it's either attempting to cut/respool 120 or using 35mm. But yes, they are very nice cameras to use.
stephen.w Posted October 11, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 11, 2013 I saw a 3.5F Planar listed for a reasonable price on a local auction site a few months back. Still sorry that I didn't bid on it.
Keith (M) Posted October 11, 2013 Share #5 Posted October 11, 2013 Bought my mid-Sixties Rolleicord Vb (as well as Leica items) from Collect Camera NL. Not cheap by any means but his stock is of very high quality (and no, I have no links with him other than being a very satisified customer). 250swb Posted October 11, 2013 Share #6 Posted October 11, 2013 It must be something catching, I have Rolleicord Vb as well. Lovely camera, although I'm slightly 'off' square format at the moment I fully anticipate using it again soon. The Rolleiflex is more automated and quicker to use, but not by much, and the Rolleicord is so much cheaper and not far behind in lens quality, not enough to make a fuss over, kind of like Summicron versus Summarit in Leica terms. peter_n Posted October 18, 2013 Share #9 Posted October 18, 2013 A "cheapish" one may end up costing you more overall because of high CLA costs. With the Rolleiflex condition is everything, if you want to get one (or more) to keep look for one in very good condition. Even then it will still probably need a CLA. I got my f3.5 E3 from Iceland which is not where I was looking...
CalArts 99 Posted October 18, 2013 Share #10 Posted October 18, 2013 I still use my Rollei 2.8F Planar on occasion. About five years ago I had it fully serviced by Harry Fleenor. For those in the US, Harry is probably the very best for Rollei service, parts, and info. He's kind of like the "DAG" of Rolleiflexes. StS Posted October 20, 2013 Share #11 Posted October 20, 2013 (edited) If Europe is the focus, it might be worth to have an occasional look at the website of this shop, section Mittelformat, subsection =65&tx_trproduktgalerie_pi1[page_nr]=0&cHash=f12c56df136abbe71aad4a9c6defc251"]Rolleiflex. This is one of my main shops for used equipment. Stefan Edited October 20, 2013 by StS
gabrielaszalos Posted February 4, 2021 Share #12 Posted February 4, 2021 I would also like to buy a Rolleiflex, but I'm afraid that they are so old, and have no warranty - will they continue to last for a fair amount of time?

Charles Morgan Posted February 4, 2021 Share #14 Posted February 4, 2021 I've had 2 Rolleiflexes, both from 1959. My 2.8F was just like new - slick and taut at the same time. My 3.5F is a bit more arthritic, but only in comparison. They are insanely well built, and I'd put money on my 2.8F still being in use long after I've shuffled off this mortal coil (accidents ignored). Plenty of people still maintain them, parts are available, and in most cases they are worth far more than the cost of a service.
LocalHero1953 Posted February 4, 2021 Share #15 Posted February 4, 2021 I had one for a good many years (Rolleiflex T). Mechanically they were simple and it worked well. But it developed fungus......
tommonego@gmail.com Posted February 4, 2021 Share #16 Posted February 4, 2021 Just had my 1952 2.8 C CLAd at LeZot Camera, they did an excellent job, was around $200 with shipping. This really made the 2.8 Planar shine.

Ironically the camera is made in Germany so there should be plenty over here to.

Mr.Prime Posted February 5, 2021 Share #19 Posted February 5, 2021 (edited) The Rolleiflex is one of my all time favourite cameras (my M4 might be another). Had a 75mm/3.5 over a decade ago. I recently had to buy one again, the draw was irresistible. Just got some FP4+ but no chance to put a roll through it yet. Got it from eBay without trying it, but it looks OK at first inspection and shutter works although no idea if accurate. Welcome, dear visitor! There are specialists in the UK and the EU but I'd say most camera repairers could fix one, it's simple mechanical camera stuff. Also, if you buy from a dealer, most will provide some warranty. No need to fix it if it ain't broke.
