Â I switched from NEX-5 to the X-E1 early this year (still waiting for the new M) and I don't regret it! As you said, Fuji is one of the best, if not THE best alternative for M Lenses as of now. Â My short feedback about lense performance: Â 35/1.4 LUX FLE: Amazing Combo , this outperforms anything I ever knew before. Â 21/2.8 ZM Biogon: Wide open it has quite some issues with border sharpness. On the NEX-5 this beauty was razor sharp. No issues with sharpness if you stop down a bit you get amazing results. Pete  Hi Pete, I'll leave firstlight to answer that one. I no longer own a Fuji and at the time I did the tests I didn't have a 35 'Lux so couldn't try it. Pete  I own the fujinon XF35 as well, used it very rarely so far, maybe 50 shots ...sounds wired I know.  The deepness you get with the LUX even wide open is just something else I don't know if its the contrast, rendering or another bunch of facts that makes the lux such a fantastic lense..thats why it rarely gets off the camera.  The Fujinon results are still excellent - compared to the Leica they just feel more "flat" and clean..thats my impression. Once my M arrives, I'll keep the Fujinon on the X-E1 as backup set for sure.  Have a business trip next week. I'll give it a try only taking the fujinon with me...and maybe the Zeiss 21 for testing the new highlighting feature.  I'll come back to this thread..  Cheers  EDIT: Did the FW upgrade yesterday on the X-E1, so have about nothing to share as of now.. Lux 35 @ X-E1 by LucisPictor, on Flickr  It's great, but to be honest (and I hardly dare to write it), it's not better than the Fujinon XF 1.4/35 which seriously is a gem of a lens (and offer fast and reliable AF whenever I need it. Much better with the latest firmware(s)).   Extreme wide angles can cause some smearing in the far corners, but even with my Voigtländer Heliar 4.5/15 the resulty are much more than just acceptable! I am not sufficiently technical to answer this definitively. I do know that before focus peaking there was a sort of shimmer that occurred when the Leica lens was in focus (on the Fuji) so I have assumed that it would work. Obviously there is no electrical connect between the lens and the body but I suspect focus peaking doesn't need this. Perhaps someone else will know. The focus peaking you get in the Sony NEX-7, however, is much better, I have to admit. The shot was taken using a Nikon1 V1 with the 1Nikkor 1.8/18.5 lens (also a great little glass!)  No, I am not saying that you should by the Fujinon 35 and not the 35 Lux. They are not really comparable. First, it of course depends on the camera you use. The Lux 35 ist one of the best lenses you can get for any "M". Whereas the Fujinon 35 is one of the best lenses you can get for any Fuji X-Series cam.  But in order to explain the difference, allow me to use an analogy and two similes: The Leica Summilix 1.4/35 is like a 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S. The Fujinon XF 1.4/35 is like a 2014 Nissan GT-R.  The Porsche costs twice as much as the Nissan. Now, which one is "better"?  The Lux 35 just "feels" great when you use it and the optical performance is beyond any doubt. The images I saw taken with that lens on the new M (240) just blew me away! The Fujinon 35 almost feels as good as the Lux and its optical performance is also immaculate. But there are those electronic deviced inside and - although being also mechanically very nice - it's not such a mechanical masterpiece like the Lux. (But then for me, personally, there is nothing left to be wanted in the Fujinon 35.)  You will admit, I guess, that's not a question of being "better" but "different".
