comapedrosa Posted July 25, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 25, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wanted to follow up on a thread I started about 1 1/2 months ago in the old forum. I received a lot of good advice (as always) in response to my dilemma whether I should take my Digilux 2 or the old Nikon F3+Nikkor 50mm f1.2+Fuji 800 asa film (Press) to a low-light even of extreme importance to me. In the end I decided to take both and promised to post some results. This is by no means a rigorous comparison, but simply the short story of a real-life choice based on what I had available. I did not even shoot the same photos with both cameras. Here are my very subjective impressions from both alternatives: - Man was I missing that shallow DOF - Reflex is shaky - A fix focal length is relieving: what I lost in flexibility I gained in creativity - There's nothing like the tactile pleasure of a smooth mechanical focusing ring - After the shooting, anything film is just a pain to deal with (retail development, scanning) .. in the end, nothing new. Here’s a sample of the output: Nikon F3+Nikkor 50mm f1.2+Fuji 800 asa film (Press)
