Saad Posted October 4, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted October 4, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone, I have had my 35 SX for a year now and I never shook it until today, and I hear this rattling sound as though there is a loose element inside. I have heard that there are other people who have had the same complaint. Â Can someone please help me out and say whether this is normal from their own experience? woopie Posted October 4, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted October 4, 2013 Hi, I have got one . I sent it to Leica and now it is absolutely silent. leica told there is no problem with rattling but I preferred it to be fixed. I know there is an official communication about this issue from Leica. Saad Posted October 4, 2013 Author Share #3 Â Posted October 4, 2013 Thank you so much woopie. I wonder what is causing it. Where can I find the official communication about this? Â regards Saad
CalArts 99 Posted October 4, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted October 4, 2013 fwiw, I sent mine to Leica for a back focus correction. It rattled (it's really more like a faint tinkling sound) when I bought it and it rattled when I got it back from their service (which included a full "servicing the lens to factory specifications.") Leica told me a slight rattle is normal and there is no really true 'fix' with any kind of service because there's nothing to fix. It's part of the design of the aperture blade mechanism. Â This has been discussed here before. Whether the lens rattles or not seems really more dependent on the owner's sense of hearing. But there's is no issue so don't worry about it. MarkP Posted October 4, 2013 Share #7 Â Posted October 4, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) It may rattle with the aperture blades in a certain position. This is not a defect as you will see from the above threads which cover this 'serious' problem ad-nauseum. Â Go out and enjoy the lens
01af Posted October 4, 2013 Share #8 Â Posted October 4, 2013 It may rattle with the aperture blades in a certain position. No, it may not. The aperture blades have nothing to do with it.

You're welcome, somebody else has written the link to thread containing all information about this issue. My noctilux 0,95 did the same joke to me, same treatment same solution.  Bye. Saad Posted October 5, 2013 Author Share #10  Posted October 5, 2013 Dear 01af is it that the aperture assembly requires a suitable washer to make it not move in it's housing.
tom0511 Posted October 7, 2013 Share #11 Â Posted October 7, 2013 My sample rattles but it is optically working so good that I will not send it for service. I would prefer no rattle but as long as Leica says it is ok then it is not a real problem for me. I had another sample before, that didn't rattle. firstlight Posted October 7, 2013 Share #12 Â Posted October 7, 2013 This is normal because of the floating element inside, no reason to worry about

lct Posted October 8, 2013 Share #14 Â Posted October 8, 2013 If it's like my pre-apo 90/2, rattle comes from the aperture actually. Had it fixed by the use of a more viscous grease but the stops don't click any more so don't be as stupid as me.
01af Posted October 8, 2013 Share #15 Â Posted October 8, 2013 If it's like my pre-apo 90/2 ... No, it isn't. Â Â ... rattle comes from the aperture actually. No, it doesn't.

01af Posted October 8, 2013 Share #17 Â Posted October 8, 2013 The rattling sound comes from a mechanical link that connects the aperture ring to the internal aperture assembly. It does NOT come from the aperture itself ... and certainly not from the 'floating elements.' Â This has been explained here several times before. lct Posted October 8, 2013 Share #18 Â Posted October 8, 2013 OK thanks and what is the difference with the 90/2 pre-asph then?
