fnick851 Posted September 28, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted September 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I am very new to film photography and recently just bought an double-stoke M3. Â I use a 50mm Summicron DR and an Elmar (I thought it was 50mm but now I am not sure,) with it. I just shot 4 rolls of Superia 400 and have it processed and scanned. 2 rolls for Summicron and 2 rolls for Elmar. Â All images by Summicon are great. But the images of the Elmar look like fish eye and completely out of focus. I thought the Elmar was 50mm but the Lab told me it seems like 35mm. I am bot sure what happened or what I did wrong. Â I upload my image here and could anyone check them out and see what happened? I also upload a photo of my Elmar here so that you can help me identify what lens it is. Â Thanks. Â These are few of those images: Â This is the Elmar lens with M3 body:
Advertisement Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Hi fnick851, Take a look here Why my Elmar lens give me fish eye and out of focus image?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gyoung Posted September 28, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted September 28, 2013 The Elmar says its 50mm, its a collapsible lens, sounds like you didn't extend it before use. The front part should be pulled out and turned to lock it before use. Â Gerry
TomB_tx Posted September 29, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted September 29, 2013 That's right, the Elmar was designed to push into the body to make it smaller for carrying and storage. To use it first pull it out to the stop, and turn the front rim until the barrel locks in place. Then you will find it is a very nice lens.
