ananda Posted September 18, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted September 18, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Would it be possible for Leica to make/create an extension lens attachment that goes directly on the M240 and then one could reattach one's 50mm Lux that that and the the focal length might be doubled?? Â Yes, I know 2x and 1.4 were made for the R lenses. Thus, is it possible for such a thing for the M lenses? Â Forgive my ignorance if this question is insane. 01af Posted September 18, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted September 18, 2013 Your question isn't insane, it has been discussed several times before, and the answer is, 'Would it be possible? Yes. Would it make sense? No.'
jaapv Posted September 18, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted September 18, 2013 Actually such a 2x converter exists, it was made by Kobalux. Not Leica quality to be sure, but pretty decent.
ananda Posted September 18, 2013 Author Share #4 Â Posted September 18, 2013 I suppose the reason it would not make sense is because it would kill Leica's lens sales? But it sure would be nice and convenient to have such an extended!!!
jaapv Posted September 18, 2013 Share #5 Â Posted September 18, 2013 They can be found regularly on eBay.

You're kidding, right?   They can be found regularly on eBay. They were made by only one maker over a short period of time (in the mid or late '70s, if I remember correctly)—and yet you can find them on eBay on a regular basis. So what does this tell us? Â I had one, and it was horrible to use even though it was a fairly good quality. The image through the accessory viewfinder was pathetic when you turned a 90mm into a 180mm. But for use with an M240, it could be done. Â Steve

Did you mean Komura, Jaap? I don't recall ever seeing a Kobalux M extender but Komura Telemore 2x extenders pop up from time to time. Â Pete.
