Michael Geschlecht Posted September 17, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted September 17, 2013 Hello wjkotze, Â Welcome to the Forum. Â The best tools for mounting & dismounting filters & filter rings are: Fingers that don't tighten things too tightly. Â Just as the glass in a filter is NOT supposed to be tightened too tightly into the filter ring. You will sometimes hear the glass rattle when it is properly placed in a filter: Â The filter ring with glass in place is also NOT supposed to be tightened too tightly against the lens by the retaining ring. Â Overtightening of either of the above can over stress the glass & distort the image. It may also get something stuck. Â Best Regards, Â Michael
